Love Is the Greatest Gift of All

my daughter (in red) and my nephew

My daughter's handwriting when she was 13; I recently found it with these pictures in one of  her old photo albums

my daughter and her cousin, again

旅途中他倆起了爭執;

    我們應該把它寫在沙上;
    寬恕之風,將抹去它的痕跡。

    但是,如果別人
    對我們做了什麼好事,
    我們必須把它刻在石上;
    風,永不能抹去它的記憶。」

Two friends were walking through the desert,
During some point of the journey
they had an argument, and one friend
slapped the other one in the face.

The one who got slapped was hurt.
but without saying anything,
he wrote in the sand,

"Today my best friend slapped me in the face."
.
They kept on walking,
until they found an oasis, where
they decided to take a bath.

The one who had been slapped got stuck
in the mire and started drowning.
But the friend saved him.

After he recovered from the near
drowning, he wrote on a stone:

"Today my best friend saved my life"

The friend who had slapped and saved his best friend
asked him, "After I hurt you, you wrote in the sand,
and now, you write on a stone, why?"

The friend replied,
"When someone hurts us, we should write it down in sand,
where winds of forgiveness can erase it away.

But, when someone does something good for us,
We must engrave it in stone
where no wind can ever erase it."

Learn to write your hurts in the sand
and to carve your benefits in stone......

Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

PS.  Author unknown. My friend Cathy forwarded
this to me, then another friend Judy asked for
the Chinese version, so I translated the whole
thing, but only posted the main part of it here.
Thanks to both of my friends.

A friend of mine gave me this little piece of rock when we were Seminary classmates.

The Gospel of John 8:7 (約翰福音8:7)

In this special Christmas season, I am welcoming my precious Lord, baby Jesus.  With deep repentance and genuine forgiveness, I greatly rejoice in my being healed and being set FREE in Christ!  "For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set me free from the law of sin and of death." (Romans 8:2).

I so love you, Jesus!
